Is BrisaMail free?
BrisaMail will offer a free Personal edition and a Corporate edition with centralized management features.
Which platforms does it support?
BrisaMail runs natively on Linux, Windows, and macOS.
Which protocols does it support?
- IMAP for receiving (recommended)
- POP3 for receiving
- SMTP for sending (TLS, STARTTLS, SSL)
What are the system requirements?
BrisaMail is lightweight and runs on most modern computers. You need at least 512 MB of available RAM and 50 MB of disk space for the application, plus additional space for your emails. It supports Linux (Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora 38+), Windows 10+ (64-bit), and macOS 11 Big Sur or later (Intel and Apple Silicon).
How much memory does it use?
During normal use, BrisaMail consumes less than 250 MB of RAM, significantly less than clients like Thunderbird or Outlook. Incremental sync also minimizes network and battery usage on laptops.
Can I organize my emails on Kanban boards?
Yes. BrisaMail includes a built-in Kanban planner that lets you convert emails into board cards, create standalone tasks, and organize your work with columns, labels, checklists, and filters. Columns can trigger automatic actions on emails (mark as read, archive, etc.) when you move a card.
Security
Where are my passwords stored?
Passwords are securely stored in the operating system's keychain: Keychain on macOS, libsecret on Linux, and Windows Credential Manager on Windows. They are never stored in plain text.
Does BrisaMail run JavaScript in emails?
No. All email HTML is securely sanitized. No script execution or active content is allowed.
What phishing protection does it offer?
- Detection of fake domains in the sender's name
- Analysis of suspicious links (homographs, punycode)
- Warnings about shortened URLs
- Blocking of attachments with dangerous extensions
Data and privacy
Are my emails sent to any BrisaMail server?
No. BrisaMail connects directly to your email servers. Your data is stored locally on your computer.
Can I browse my emails offline?
Partially. Headers and metadata of synced emails are stored locally, allowing you to browse your inbox and search emails. However, the full message content requires a connection to the server.
